Use this guide to prepare a clear EV charging equipment brief for a home, workplace, fleet or commercial site.
AC or DC charging?
AC charging relies on the vehicle’s onboard charger. DC charging supplies DC power to the vehicle battery through a compatible connection. Equipment choice depends on the vehicle, parking time, required charging window and available site power.
Does rated power equal actual charging power?
No. Actual power depends on the vehicle’s capability, battery condition, equipment configuration and site supply. Confirm model-specific requirements before selecting equipment.
What does OCPP support mean?
OCPP is a protocol for communication between charging equipment and a charging management system. Confirm the supported version, backend integration and software scope for your selected configuration.
What should a quote cover?
Request the model, connectors, mounting, price, GST, delivery, lead time, installation, commissioning, warranty, support and any recurring software or data fees. Ask which items are optional or excluded.
Which Type 2 cable should I choose?
Confirm single-phase or three-phase requirements, current rating, connector compatibility and cable length against both the vehicle and charging point. Compare Type 2 cables.
